Ice Cream Fruit Flavors
- 2 ripe bananas
- 100 grams of fruit ( mango, strawberry, sapota/chikoo)
For chocolate flavor
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
For other flavor ideas and tips please refer to notes section
Method
For the fruit flavors
- Chop the ripe bananas into bite sized pieces. Add in a freezer-friendly bag/box. Freeze for 3 -4 hours or overnight.
- Chop the fruit of your choice. Add it to another freezer-friendly bag and freeze.
- To prepare the ice cream, let the frozen bananas and fruit defrost a little.(Don’t let it defrost completely – just enough to help the blender blend). Then add the bananas to a blender. Blend for a few minutes. In between if the blender get stuck, just use a spoon to mash the bananas lightly and continue.
- To this add the frozen fruit that you chose. Again blend till you get a smooth consistency. You will see that the banana-fruit mixture will be creamy.
- Pour this into a air-tight freezer-friendly box. Freeze for a few hours – serve with fruit salad!
For preparing chocolate flavor
- Chop the ripe bananas into bite sized pieces. Add in a freezer-friendly bag/box. Freeze for 3 -4 hours or overnight.
- Now add 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder and blend till you get a smooth consistency.
- Pour this into a air-tight freezer-friendly box. Freeze for a few hours – serve with chocolate sauce/nuts on top!
Notes
- Choose ripe bananas for this. They will be naturally sweet and you won’t need to add any sugar here.
- To freeze, choose a really air-tight box, like one with the lockable lid. This helps the ice cream to freeze well. Else the ice cream will freeze like ice cubes. They will still taste good. If this happens – just let the ice cream defrost a little. Then serve like a soft-serve scoop in a bowl.
- Add more fun flavors for kids – like instead of cocoa powder add nutella or peanut butter and honey. Also you can top with nuts and chocolate sauce.
- This ice cream will stay good in the freezer for 2-3 days. After this I feel the bananas don’t taste that good.
- 2 bananas and 100 grams of fruit will give about 3 scoops of ice creams!
